Please, pass this info and message along to other dog lovers. Tina is lucky to be alive and sitting next to me today.

August 28th, 2011

Our journey began with two white baby rabbits that were dumped in Mile Square Park in Fountain Valley. I caught two baby rabbits and we rode off to the Petco that no longer exists on Euclid and Brookhurst.

On the way back into Mile Square Park Tina jumped out of my mom's bike basket at a squirrel. When she fell her front left leg became entangled in the spokes on the wheel. Very entangled. It took three people plus me having a panic attack to remove Tina from the spokes. One guy was jogging by and the other guy jumped the golf fence to help us. Thank you so very much to whom ever those gentlemen were. We would have never gotten Tina out of the spokes on our own. The frozen water bottle one of the gentlemen gave us saved Tina's leg from some major swelling. Now did Tina learn anything from this experience? Probably not...

We then secured Tina in my bike basket and rode our bicycles to the vet on Newhope and Euclid that is no longer there. We found a fire station nearby and got directions to an emergency vet 2.4 miles away.

Tracy Brown at VCA All-Care Animal Referral Center examined Tina. Tina's wrist is dislocated with torn ligaments and tendons. Her elbow is broken. Yes, we got to see little Tina's mangled joints on a computer screen. She will never be able to walk on her front left leg again unless we do surgery. There is too much damage.

The vet bill is $350.24. I have it on a payment plan of three payments at $116.74. The first payment is due on 9/28/2011.

August 29th, 2011

Tina's morning visit fees were waived! Jeremy Trousdale examined her this morning. Tina is bandaged up in a splint for now and is also on antibiotics and pain medicine. Tina is also has the cone of shame, if we need to use it. We are going to amputate her leg. It would cause more problems for Tina if we try to fix her mangled leg with surgery than to just take it off. To us amputation is the most humane course of action. Saving the leg with plates and rods is just going to cause Tina more pain and suffering later on in life.

August 30th, 2011

We are in the process of locating financial help to get Tina's leg amputated. We are going to be taking Tina to HoPe Veterinary Center (www.hopeveterinarycenter.org/) in West Los Angeles to have her splint removed, wounds cleaned, and get an estimate for an amputation.

September 1st, 2011

VCA West LA Animal Hospital is taking care of Tina until Saturday and the HoPe program is going to cover everything for her amputation! She will be having the surgery sometime tomorrow. Wish her luck! Tina still has a bill at VCA All-Care Animal Referral Center in Fountain Valley and they do take donations by phone. They also accept checks made out to VCA All-Care. Just tell them you want to make a donation toward Tina Crites' emergency vet bill from Sunday, August 28th, 2011.

I am getting my financial aid from GWC tomorrow September 2nd and will be making the first payment of $116.74. Still going to need help with the last two payments though. Tina's total emergency vet bill is $350.24.

September 2nd, 2011

Tina's arm was amputated and it went great. She's recovering well.

September 3rd, 2011

Tina is coming home today at 4pm! She recovered wonderfully from her amputation yesterday! She's eating and hobbling around. :D Off to Petco for supplies! And we're skipping the diapers because Tina is mobile already!

How to Help Tina:
If you would like to donate to Tina's vet bill of $350.24 at VCA All-Care Animal Referral Center you can call at 714-963-0909 and tell them you want to make a donation to Tina Crites. If you'd like to drop by VCA All-Care Animal Referral Center to make a donation they are located at 18440 Amistad Street, Suite E, Fountain Valley, CA 93708 just off Ellis Ave. I'm sure you could even mail a check made out to VCA All-Care if you wish.

We are also going to need doggie diapers, size small (Tina is almost 10lbs!), and potty pads since Tina isn't able to get up and go potty on her own. We buy diapers and potty pads from Petco and they cost about $16 for a pack of 12 diapers and potty pads cost $13 for 10. You can send cash donations via PayPal to Sister4Lac@aim.com or order and mail to Po Box 8307 Huntington Beach, CA 92615.

The white baby rabbits were also handed over to the care of VCA All-Care Animal Referral Center. Animal Control came this morning and picked them up form VCA this morning while Tina was being examined. You can visit the VCA All-Care Animal Referral Center website at VCAacarc.com

Fun Fact: Tina's middle name is Louise.

Thank You to:
-The wonderful gentlemen in Mile Square Park who helped us.
-The Fountain Valley Fire House on Newhope Street for helping locate the closest emergency vet.
-VCA All-Care Referral Center in Fountain Valley for taking wonderful care of Tina and letting me do a payment plan.
-VCA West Los Angeles Animal Hospital and HoPe for taking care of Tina and her amputation!

Finally...

I finally got my MacBook working again. I had to reinstall OS X 10.5 to revive it. I borrowed the disc from my Digital Imaging professor. I'm going to make a back up of that disc. I just a need a disc that's big enough. 7.11GB will not fit on what I have...

I'm already signed up for Fall 2011 classes. Digital Imaging and Intermediate Photoshop!

I GET FINANCIAL AID ON SEPTEMBER 2nd! WOO HOO!

To all in or near Huntington Beach: If you have a generator you no longer use that works and you'd like to sell for a low price it to a homeless college student please note me or email me at: EmmaL27@aim.com

This is my third birthday while being homeless. My mom and I have been homeless for two years now; since July 1st, 2009. At least I get to spend the day at the beach tomorrow. I love to swim in the ocean. I love the waves. I'm still learning how to boogie board and eventually
I'll be brave and get on a surfboard. The thought still terrifies me at the moment!  School will be starting in August and I'm working on getting my classes in order. I'm only taking 2 classes because of my current living situation. Hence the reason for needing birthday money! I need $81 for registration fees and I'm working on finding out how much books are going to cost. I also need to reinstall the operating system on my 15" 2006 MacBook Pro. I turned it on one morning and it started flahing the apple, the folder, and the anti-anything circle with the line through it. Oh joy! A kernel panic! How lovely. The Apple Store will cost about $130 or more to reinstall the operating system. But I get to keep the discs! So I'm really paying for the reinstall discs. Hopefully I'll still have arms, legs, and both kidneys by the time I get all this taken care of. Sadly, financial aid from the Pell Grant doesn't come until after school starts. :)

Fun Facts!
-I love Hello Kitty and The Nightmare Before Christmas
-My favorite color is purple
-Mmm...Mountain Dew
-I spend a lot of time reading books
-I have a 16GB 3G iPhone with no service, a PSP, a DS Lite, and a 15" 2006 MacBook Pro. I also have my PS3 despite losing all my games and accesories in storage. I love my PS3.

If anyone would like to send birthday money my mom and I do have a Paypal account, though it does take 3 days to get it to my bank account: Sister4Lac@aol.com

Or a check in the mail works. I do have a bank account! Address: Po Box 8307, Huntington Beach, CA 92615

Or if your family you can email me at EmmaL27@aim.com to get the rounting number!

P.S. Emma is a nickname I use online to protect my identity from stalkers, thrives, and scams. Graphic Designers are prone to those attacks, sadly.
